  • In Ghana, West Africa an estimated 40% of all elementary aged children lack the resources to attend school. The enrollment rates drop even further for middle school aged children, as an alarming 60% of them are unable to afford a basic education.
  • Most primary and secondary schools also lack basic resources and up-to-date learning materials.
  • The Hemma Foundation, now known as Keep Striving International was founded by Edna Bissoon who volunteered as a semester long science teacher as well as photography club advisor at La Yahoushua Junior Secondary School in Accra, Ghana. She witnessed the economic hardships faced by young children in Ghana, many of whom work long hours to assist their families.
  • To address this issue, Edna created The Hemma Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that affords educational opportunities for the economically disadvantaged middle schoolers of La Yahoushua. Academic scholarships and school materials are currently provided but each year the charity strives to grow larger in order to help more children and more schools in developing countries around the world. By donating funds for education, The Hemma Foundation strives to improve the quality of education received by Ghana’s youth.
  • By investing in quality textiles that last a lifetime, you will also be impacting the lives of low-income school children. Business with a Cause.
